March 15, 2007 - Fort Lauderdale, FL -- The 1st Annual American Girl Fashion Show
produced by the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County Nan Knox Unit, in cooperation
with The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Fashion Design program, hits the runway at
the Broward County Convention Center on Saturday, March 17th and Sunday, March 18th.
There will be two shows daily, 10am and 2pm, in the Floridian Ballroom.

The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Fashion Design program is helping to add sizzle
and direction to this charity event by coordinating the fashion show. The college's
students were involved with the open model call in January. They are also assisting
models with dressings, fittings, rehearsals and doll changes. Photography students
will be viewing the show through their lenses and capturing timeless photographs.
Students from the Graphic Design program are also lending a hand in developing
posters.

"We have the skills to do charitable work and we've done it before," says Fashion
Design Program Chair Andre West. "They needed our support and we always try to help
out local neighborhood charities such as the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County Nan
Knox Unit."

American Girl is a national direct marketer, children's publisher, and experiential
retailer. As part of the company's ongoing commitment to "celebrate girls,"
American Girl events have generated millions of dollars for worthwhile causes
nationwide.

Recently, approximately 150 parents and 150 children visited The Art Institute of
Fort Lauderdale for the first time to get details about the fashion show. "The
parents seemed impressed and excited when I asked the kids about the show," said
Carmen Laster, The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale executive producer of the
fashion show.

The proceeds raised will directly benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County
Nan Knox Unit and its array of programs that foster our area's at-risk youth, giving
them a safe place to learn, play, and thrive.
